Thank you for 6.0! Keep up the good work. I'm going to play some more games and try out the cheating version.

AI Help Section / Re: Confused about AI difficulties

I'm aware this is a beta, and all of these AIs are works in progress... but at the moment not a single one of them is even as good as the Easy AI from Starcraft/Broodwar. I guess what confuses me is that I keep seeing posts on here about how hard these AIs are (cheating versions, mostly) and I can't help but wonder if I'm doing something wrong.

I mean, I find it very hard to believe anyone who's played SC/BW before would ever lose even a 1v3 against any of these AIs; let alone a 1v1. Likewise, these AIs seem to be running at full capacity; some are hitting 500-600 APM at times and doubling my resources. Because of this, I'm fairly certain everything is running properly.

I guess my question is... have most of you just never played an RTS before, or am I somehow causing the AIs to malfunction (I've tried rushing them, letting them rush me, dragging the match out, etc... doesn't seem to matter)?

Props to the people coding these AIs, because I'm sure it's a lot of work and I have no doubt it will continue to improve... but at the moment it only took my five year old less than 10 games to start beating the cheating AIs 100% of the time. Just seems like I'm missing something because I can't believe anyone could ever be challenged by the current AIs, and yet I keep reading forum posts by people who are.

Firstly - Star Craft 2 is not a Darkblizz production, it is a Blizzard Entertainment production.

Second - All of the AIs have been developed by people like Turdburgler and Goosie over the last WEEK. That's right. One whole week. Blizzard Entertainment had a lot of time to work on their AIs before the retail game SC1 was released, and they had teams of people working on the AIs in SC1.

Thrid - The people at Darkblizz do not work for Blizzard Entertainment.

Fourth - This is a cracked version of Star Craft 2 beta which is a game designed to play against players, not AI. Which is why Blizzard Entertainment didn't put much effort at all into their AIs, and people like Turdburgler and Goosie are attempting to improve the AI in order for the community to have something to do instead of watch replays all day posted on youtube. ;)

Oh yea, and to answer your question - the people losing to the AI either are new, or just suck. ;)

It's not enough they are giving you all these AI releases, you guys HAVE to know when its coming out? IMO take your time programmers. They didnt have to give us any AI's. So stop demanding a ETA, and by it taking longer than some of the earlier releases you know it will be better. So do yourselves a favor go outside, walk your dog... do something productive or just refresh your f5 key all day like a loser.  8)

Thanks for the hard work fellas

^^ What he said. ^^

The people making AI don't HAVE to make it for us. So hold onto your panties and take a deep breath. It will be out when it's ready. If you want it sooner, or thinking coding is easy - try it yourself and post your "crazy wicked" AI within 3 days.

Keep up the good work, Turd. Don't let these spoiled brats get you down. ;) (PS I hope you watched those gerbil videos I posted!)

After playing the crack i suppose it is time to change races to Terran now that Toss are getting bent over

Meh, Blizzard's main focus will be balancing all races properly. I wouldn't worry too much about it atm.

Heh, you totally summed up the forums in a sentence Roger911. Some of the people on these forums drive me crazy because they don't appreciate the work going into the AIs, beta crack, and possible emulation.

To the devs: Words can not express our appreciation and thanks for the wonderful beta crack, and the AIs you are coming up with. Thank you so much, and please keep up the good work!

To appease the AI gods, I suggest hamster sacrifices. 1,000 should suffice...

i dont know about you guys but this 5.0 5.5 and AI seemed to be junk to me, i dont know if im using it right or if i have the right maps but these previous AI did nothing besides build a few men and come attack me then run away ALL DAY. SO i switched to Goosie's AI mod - Version 4 and what a difference. I get my maps from, http://www.nibbits.com/sc2/maps/ and i think the maps have AI on them? idk but i would unzip the Base.SC2Data to the C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II Beta folder and thats it. and it seems that it does VERY little, i dont know if i need to use the maps from this site or what.is there some type of mod that needs to go with just theBase.SC2Data or just it by itself? cuz by it self it sux...

Uhm... you are aware that the people releasing AI have been either modifying blizzard's beta AI or writing the whole thing from scratch right? Considering that the people in this community have been putting out AI's for only the past week, the AIs are great, and getting better every time!

AI Scripts / Re: Goosie's AI mod - Version 4

No worries, Goosie. I highly doubt Galaxy will be leaked before the retail release of SC2. It will probably be closely guarded by Blizzard. :(

Thank you for all your hard work!

Well then, I have a sadistic treat for you, Turd.

Gerbils instead of hamsters, but who really cares? :P

No one will have to crack the Galaxy editor because Blizzard is giving full functions to us, the users.

Watch the video in this thread: http://darkblizz.org/Forum2/galaxy-maps/galaxy-map-editor-who's-excited!!/   near the bottom if you haven't already. ;)

I'm curious if the FFA limitation is caused by the Launcher or map, and if it's possible to team up the AI.  It would of course increase the difficulty substantially.  I remember reading somewhere that FFA is all we get, but I don't recall if anyone ever posted a reason.

Here is the reason:

Q: Why can't i choose my race, is Meele or Teambattle possible?
First, race change might implemented later, but like every other feature, devs are working on it, or might work on it when the real important work is done. Melee or Teambattles aren't yet possible cause the same reason.

Found it at: http://darkblizz.org/Forum2/ai-help-section/faq-!-()/

In short, it's the launcher. It isn't a huge issue at the moment because you can just press F10 and restart 'till you get the race you want to play. That's what I do anyways. :P

Awesome! Thank you Gamewiz! It actually came up and said "AIv0.9 [Protoss]: Prepare to die!" when I was facing protoss. This is very exciting. :) I can't thank you enough for explaining the workings of the two different types of AIs to me!

I'm still watching other peoples' replays, and will continue to even if we get multiplayer.

Yeah. What I meant is at least we have something to play with now and are able to get a head start when it comes to learning new units, hot keys, and buildings. ^_^
