i played it twice last night. i do not know why, but it doesn't seem to attack until i expand. I have a theory that it will not attack unless it sees an enemy nex/hatch/cc. i kept units in the entrance of my base and the enemy scout never came in, so their units just hang out. when i expand and put up a nexus the scout can get to, their probe comes by and almost like clockwork i see the enemy coming at me. in the second game i tried to provoke it and i think it will correct the problem if I do, only their army sort of split in half and was wiped out too easily.

one other thing i noticed is it never makes observers. it loves to build dark templar (awesome) but if i try to make any back at it it will let its entire army fall to 2 of them and never try to detect them.

this is by far the best non-cheating protoss AI i have played against so far macro wise. it builds fast, upgrades and comes at me with a variety of units. when i get home from work i want to test my skills with the other races against it...i've only done PP so far

Not enough Pylons / Re: Custom Hotkeys?
March 03, 2010, 04:34:24 PM
custom hotkeys will definitely be available in the retail and i will use the grid as well....its the only way it makes sense. i was a grid user in wc3 and it is superior. i do not think it is illegal and never has been. i never was able to get my sc1 hotkeys to change though, the utility would say it worked but it wouldn't  :'(

hotkeys in SC2 are retarded. they tried to keep everything on the left I think (hence Pylon/Probe being "E") but fail on other occasions. I haven't bothered memorizing the current hotkey layout yet but if Immortal is I then they really didn't do a good job moving everything to the left.

I still frequently try to R-click to attack :(

I have been lurking awhile taking advantage of everyones work...just wanted to say my thanks.

fwiw, for those of you saying the AI is way too easy because it runs back and fourth (i agree)....i would just suggest not blocking off your entrance. just try to win that way. i know that most people would never bother to do that with terran but if you want an easy and fun way to practice micro without ganking the AI, just don't block it off. we also don't know what the final release of this game is going to look like. maybe some ladder maps don't have ramps and/or small choke points? blocking entrance is a valid strat and definitely should be used for testing purposes, but atm it is like cheating, so if you are bored with what is available now, just don't block it off and enjoy a pretty good fight...

thanks again to all who are developing this AI...it has been fun to learn the game offline and try to practice what i have learned in some of these replays. can't wait to test myself against some real people
