Random In Game Freeze Then Game Resumes

I have constant random in game freezes but then after a few seconds the game will resume or catch back up.  It's completely random.  I've tried lower graphic and sound settings and it still happens.  the game runs perfect otherwise.

It's a beta, there's bound to be a few performance glitches.

From experience, whenever hitching like that occurs, it usually coincides with the program reading or writing something to the hard disk.  Defrag'd recently?
