Title: StarLauncher v1.34d with Team/Race/Color/AI selection, no map repacking.
Post by: et2010 on March 10, 2010, 04:38:57 PM
(http://e.imagehost.org/0280/SC2Launcher134c_en.jpg)

This is a modified version based on Esper's StarLauncher v0.41 (http://darkblizz.org/Forum2/sc2-tools/starlauncher-v0-3-with-team-setting-colorrace-selection-slot-changing/).

Known problems:
1. AI won't work in some maps (currently known: Blistering Sands and Scrap Station)
2. Game displays 'Replay Desync' while watching replays in some circumstances, possible reasons:
AI mod currently selected not matches the AI mod used for the replay
Team and/or alliance options not match

v1.34d
Fixed the issue regarding program launch failure due to MSVCR90.dll is missing

v1.34c
Fixed the bug regarding alliance settings were not loaded properly
Fixed the start location mark position

v1.34b
Fixed the bug regarding map settings were not loaded properly
Fixed the bug regarding start location selection has no effect
Added start location marks on map thumbnail (position is not very exact yet)
Enabled team and alliance options for replays (some not work replays might work if AI, team and alliance options match)
Moved log file from <GamePath>\Support\SC2Launcher.log to <LauncherPath>\SC2Launcher.log (feel free to delete the old log file)

v1.34a updates:
Fixed a bug regarding program launch failure under Windows XP or below.

v1.34 updates:
Updated UI layout, added a preview panel (map/replay thumbnail, terrain and size, no map name or description yet.)
Added start location selection (still testing, seems no effect?)
Added game version selection
Map settings will be saved in separated sections depends on filename
Removed color name texts (show color blocks only, except Random)
Removed error messages of "Open map file failed" and "Open relay file failed"

v1.33 updates:

v1.32 updates:              v1.31 updates:               v1.30 updates:               v1.20 updates:               Usage: Place TriggerLibs folder under Mods\AI\<AI Name>, e.g.:
Mods\AI\Starcrack AI 6.1.1 Standard\TriggerLibs
Mods\AI\Starcrack AI 6.1.1 Cheating\TriggerLibs
Mods\AI\My Custom AI\TriggerLibs
...

Base.SC2Data package AI is not supported yet.

v1.11 updates:              v1.10 updates:              Notes: map file will be copied to X:\Users\Your Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\Cache\Download while starting game, so that replays could be watched normally.

Maybe make sure you have the original maps? You select what maps to load, so it shouldn't matter as to the location.

i used the maps i was using from the last launcher, so it should be original, it's the syko's map pack, with loading screens, or is that not the original one?

nvm, it works now, guess first time just broken or something

This mod is great!  ;D

Any chance on adding starting positions to it? That and AI difficulty selection are the only things that this launcher currently lacks IMO. If those two features are added, this loader will be flawless!  :)

AI difficulty selection is not supported yet, maybe available in future update.
I'm not sure whether it's able to set starting location, but I will check this.

Good one et2010 ;) . Tried this one with Ai 6.1.1 (newest) and newest patch too, and it worked :P . However there are still things that can (easily, i guess) be changed to make this even better:

Some list box to easily browse for maps and AI (in this version AI changing still needs to be done by replacing the Base file)

A nicer GUI (would be great but not really needed)

And thanks for this great launcher  8) 8)

Sure. I'm considering to save last settings a .ini file, and AI location could be customized.

Quick question:

Since it saves to the \download folder, can I then just copy that modified map, and use LazyLauncher2 directly and start up a game with the same settings?

I mean, say, I set, 1 toss vs 2 zerg, start game, exit starcraft2. Go to the download folder, copy that map and place it under 00\11 and rename it to say,

0011 1v2 PvZZ Lost Temple

then launch lazylauncher2 select the renamed map and expect to see the same matchup?

I just registered to let you know this is the best launcher ever.
The only feature i miss is

- A list of maps in the launcher so that i dont have to browse to them (if you do make this feauture plz make the map folder changeable).

(it would be nice if we could just click a button to import an ai and easily remove an ai from the list to).

Plz dont care about what the launcher looks like functionality comes first.

No. MapInfo and MapScript.galaxy are no longer updated while starting game since version 1.00. Actually no files will be updated or added in/into the map, the launcher will pass all settings to the DLL, and the DLL will dynamiclly apply the settings by modifying SC2.exe's memory.

TriggerLibs for several AI:
http://dionysus.dk/SC2/Mods.rar (http://dionysus.dk/SC2/Mods.rar)
And some have their base files as well. Just put all files in the mod folder into mods/ai folder in SC to make it work with this launcher.
There might be a few bugs with this mod though. Some maps would not load for me, maybe because they were edited. Also replays would not work.

Same Problem here. The AI mod is recognized by the launcher but in the game no Starcrack AI is loaded and it's just the Bizzard VERY EASY AI. Please fix it!

A few other suggestions:

1. All the slots are default to user, better make slot 2-N default to computer as the original StarLauncher does.

2. Default Map path is better directed to the launcher's path, not "My Documents", or make the launcher able to save the last used path to registry.

3. Those not able to watch replay must be using Vista/7. The Blizzard Cache path is different from XP so the launcher need to adapt to the OS.

Version 1.3 is great, may I make a suggestion though?

Keep the window small as in, make it small enough to fit all 8 players and that is it, the map browser doesn't need to take up that much "screen real estate".

Thanks, other than that this launcher is perfect xD

1. Already done in version 1.30-1.31, slot 2-N are set to computer as default.
2. I'll consider to set default map path to a better place.
3. I'm still not sure about that. For one of the reasons, team settings are not saved with/in the replay file, team settings may be incorrect if you've changed them on the launcher before opening the replay.

Great. This is now the BEST launcher on the earth. Some easy but useful improvements are:

1. Enable the allied control. I know you already put a checkbox in the program but you hide it. I tested it and it works great with no problem. It's really fun to control the allied AI's army and build units/structures.

2. It's known that the AI mod (TriggerLibs\*.galaxy) currently loaded needs to match the AI used for the replay to prevent Desync. So make it possible for us to choose corresponding AI version when loading a specific replay.

3.  Put version info and copyright info to the title together and make GUI looks better. And rename SC2Ext.dll to SC2Launcher.dll to prevent confusion as official SC2 file.

Another thing which would be lovely to have is a tab info with number of players supported by maps.
Also I'd like to save and keep selected the last map played or, at least, first map to be selected by default (in this way you always have access to all settings) and maybe to hide the unused slots to not be seen grayed.
Thanks for all the work put in there. I love that you chosen the TriggerLibs mod and not packed data. In that way we can quickly edit and test AIs.

2. The Desync problem - at least one of the desync problems - is resolved, it was a bug.

3. Thanks.

Thanks. But the attached 1.32 version is exactly the same as 1.31 version. Please upload again.

BTW, I'm using XP so don't know if you fixed the Vista/7 cache path problem, it's in "%UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Blizzard Entertainment\...", different from XP ("%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Blizzard Entertainment\..."). Maps placed outside the cache folder will disable replay.

P.S. I played a couple 2v2 games with allied control enabled and watched the replay. Haven't noticed the enemy computers controlling each other's units. Don't think the AI script is smart enough to invole that lol.

Launchers have nothing to do with the difficulty of the AI. I don't get how people keep thinking this. You select your AI from the launcher, nothing more.

Nice improvements. Well done!

However, the replay Desync problem still exists. If you play a game and watch the replay right afterward, no problem. But if you play another game with different team/race setting, then the memory gets changed and the previous replay always desyncs. The way to fix this is everytime loading a replay, the program should read the team/race settings from the replay (maybe hard) and modify them in the memory ahead. This should solve the Desync problem.

Some Minor concerns:
Try not compress the exe and dll with UPX, some Antivirus softwares will detect them as Malware/Trojan since they're packed executables. And why not add the complete set of icons (from 16X16 to 128X128) by simply using the one from Starcraft II.exe? Anyway your launcher is <1MB and who cares about the additional few hundred KB?

Finally, a nice small stable launcher that does the trick. Thank you very much for your work! Race, color, alliance... I feel almighty with this tool! :)))

et2010,

I hope you don't mind; Can you add a "Save Map As.." option? I mean, the launcher won't launch SC2, but just save the selected map with the selected settings.

Please?

Hey, cool! I think this is the best launcher over here  ;D It has no map preview (Theres enough space for it in the bottom left corner), but well, who cares about graphics when its working so well  ;) Theres a lack of launchers with teams possible and i think this is the only one with shared control option (very usefull sometimes). Also I can finaly watch replays with it!

There are still few very minor things to add - preview could be nice (as i mentioned before), start location selection is good for team maps (now you have to restart until you are close to each other in team) and also the difficulty selection is not working (you can chose only folder, but not the file).

Thanks for it and keep up the good work  :)

Simple, not a RAM eater...

Yay!

Is because...you don't need all the cool interface, map preview and other crap. I think it doesn't really matter, they are "useles"...NOT! I mean..you will not stare at the launcher for a lot of time. Mostly people will it only play and ignore the tool look.

I prefer the original tough! don't get angry!

1.As I mentioned in Known Problems section in this thread, I think Desync problem is because of AI mismatching. That's why I added a feature to remember last selected AI for every map in v1.33, but it's not the best way, I'm still looking for better ways.

2. I just wanted to make the executable smaller. 128x128 and 256x256 icons are too large, even larger than my exe, lol. Anyway, thanks for advise. I'll consider these.

1. I'm already considering to add a preview pannel, and remove some unnecessary error messages.
2. I'm still not sure if start location selection is possible, but I will try.

It's ok. Maybe I can release a lite version later, simple UI with only necessary options, no filelist, no preview panel.

3 problems I've encountered so far:

1. Replays desync after about 1 minute (yes, I have the correct AI selected..)

2. Replays aren't showing team vision. For example, if I select Local Player vision, the launcher will not show vision of my allies. Plz fix this.

3. The Races & Colors will NOT reset to random after each game.. I have to reset them myself every game.

The folder you choose for AI, needs to have the AI folders in them, and in each of these folders in the AI folder there needs to be a TriggerLibs folder with the AI files. What you will see in the launcher is the names of folders with a TriggerLibs folder in them.

Also I think I found a bug, when you restart the game, it freezes and wont load.

Really annoying bug when you pick difficulty and game wont load. Just black screen.
And cant alt - tab, nothing. Starcraft 2 will freeze.

But good AI. Got to play AI same team but he doesnt help team mate.
We just have shared vision.

Replays will desync and don't show team vision because they can't save team settings. I guess only in FFA you can watch replays properly.

If you see races is because you set up TriggerLibs to be AI's directory (not correct).
Supposing this are folders you have: *\Mods\StarCrack AI V6.1.1\TriggerLibs\
you have to set *\Mods\ folder to be AI's directory.
Anyway... for some reason, AIs are not loaded by launcher and I need to put TriggerLibs in root's directory game.

Edit: Now it's working again but sometimes it doesn't...

If someone can try all maps and tell us which dont load itll be great.

It seems that everytime I try to launch a game on any 4 players map, the game crashes while loading.
I guess there is a problem with 'SC2Launcher.dll' with 4 players maps. 2 players maps work fine though.
It seems to happen only in the latest patch (14356). previous patches work fine with every map.

You probably didn't set the race for you or the computers and left them with 'random'. This way it works for me too but when I choose race for me or the computers in a 4 players map it crashes while loading.
My friend also try to launch this way and it didn't work for him ethier..

I made a test with 4 players, races set individually and don't have problems too, with latest patch (14356). I'm using XP.

I just tried the latest patch 14356, with launcher v1.34a, on a 4 player map. And it loaded up fine for me..

You probably didn't set the race for you or the computers and left them with 'random'. This way it works for me too but when I choose race for me or the computers in a 4 players map it crashes while loading.
My friend also try to launch this way and it didn't work for him ethier..
I just tried it.. I selected a race for each player (myself and AI). Loaded up a 4 player map, and everything worked fine.. no crashes.

I'm using the Original Blizzard maps. The ones with no AI. Also, I'm on Windows 7 x64 if that makes any difference..

Just played a 2vs2 on Twilight Fortress with 1.34a. Selected Zerg for me and my ally against Protoss and Terran with Starcrack 6.1.1 and everything worked fine. (Win7 32bit)
I was able to control my allies troops as well as my own with "control alliances". And if I didnt do anything to them the ai took control again quick and let it go fluently into its own strategy. Still expanded, attacked and made its own decisions. It even sent in support when it realised that I was involved in battle, Im not sure if that was just random luck or because the map is just so perfect for team battles.
I got wiped out late game after much back & forth and it was pure awesomness.
Thanks a bunch for this loader!! Made my day!

I have a problem with this launcher.  Every time I try to play 1v1 vs an AI no a 2-player map, the AI selection won't activate.   However, playing 1v1 or 2v2 on 4-player yields no such problems at all.

Anyone know how to fix this?

I just made a game w. 1.34d - LT, 4 players, me in team 1 and 3 comps in team 2.

However, teams didn't work, as I had as allies 2 comps, instead of 3 opponents.

Can anybody else confirm?

definitely for me teams aren't working.
I tried being the #4 player and I no longer had vision, but comp teams weren't allied all 3of them. 2 of them were and they beat #3 ai.
I used 1.34d on XP.
1.33 I didn't tried yet.

E.T.:

The replay always Desync immediately after loading b/c the launcher cannnot read the correct team settings from the replay. It seems you let the user to manually change team settings for the replay but the interface is bugged. (See attached screenshot, slot 2 disappeared but was originally set to team 1 when playing, slot 4 somehow has no options for setting teams). But this should be easy to fix.

While watching replay right after playing works 100% perfectly, once you exit the game to desktop, re-launching with same settings and watching the previous replay will always come to Desync error after 1-2min as mentioned by others. It seems some hidden settings (team or AI or else) in the memory can't be reproduced after re-launch. This is probably very hard to fix.

Snce the cracked game GUI already allows us to watch replay, I would suggest to remove the replay function before it's completely fixed.

There are options to Resource sharing and Alliance control.

Thats great, but ... how do you use them? I searched all over the screen as much as all over the internet. I have NO idea how to do any of that in game.

Resource sharing makes you able to build things  even though you don't have enough resource as the allied AIs resource will be spent for you. Alliance control make you have complete control of the ally, exactly as controlling yourself.

Yes, start location selection even bring more chance of "Replay Desync".
I'm considering to rewrite the map settings applying feature.

Uff, it's a mess.

Aftter 3 days of testing - I get mixed results deleting the cache files
Sometimes is 1v3, othertimes is 1v2v1, and it's also sometimes ffa.
All tests on LT.

I now patiently will wait for some new release, after you guys can patch in the code that Blizzard took out for the beta. Great work so far, I'm really thankful for being able to play SC2b versus AI instead of only watching replays.

The launcher is now unstable with latest patch. It often crashes when the game almost finishes loading. See attached Error Reporter. It seems the launcher will make SC2.exe overflow the memory.

Also if you're playing 1v2 or 1v3, even if you wipe out one AI's all buildings it won't show "Player X was defeated" and that AI can still control its units, which is wrong since alliance control is not checked.

Both these problems are not within the original Starlauncher 0.41. Please fix them in 1.35 version.

No offense, but everything is working flawlessly here with latest update.  :)   Most of the problems that you and the other users are describing are environment related. Check your cache and make sure that you have the latest cache files installed. If not, you may experience random errors. Also, remove any mods that you may have installed (including AI mods) as these can also be the cause of problems.

By the way, you won't get the "Player X was defeated" message until you beat the entire team. Instead, you'll get the "Player X no longer has any forces" message. This is the way it's supposed to be. Don't trust Starlauncher 0.41 cause that thing had numerous bugs due to concept flaws based upon implemenation.

Hopefully you can get it working. Best of luck...  ;)

Maybe E.T. can add a feature to download the latest cache files in his app? We don't want to spam him with too many ideas though...  :-\

You're wrong on the "Player X was defeated" thing. If you played Starcraft 1 before you should know that once a player's buildings get wiped out, all units will become neutral and not controllable. All other launchers (including Starcrack launcher) with team settings work this way.

Once again, no offense, but this isn't StarCraft 1, this is StarCraft 2, and there are many changes, that being one of them. You're right about StarCraft 1 --  that's the way it used to work. There's a reason why the "Player X no longer has any forces" message exists.  :-\ Lauchers that don't show this message don't have teams cracked properly. Don't trust StarCrack. Most of their patches aren't too clean, no offense intended.  ;)  They do make great AI though!

If you like the way the other launchers work, you can use those instead. You don't have to use this one.  ;)

I've noticed that some 14-player maps has been released on Nibbits, but this launcher only can load maximum 8 players, so can you update the launcher so I can player with other 11 players?

This is supposed to work with Starlauncher but when I try to play 4v4 it gives me this error
"Trigger Error

Parameter out of bounds"

Im using Patch 7, Starcrack AI 7.0 and all the other maps work, except this one. Going to starcrack 6.11 didnt help either.

Hi, yeah thats one of my maps, I've been having some weird issues as of recent regarding AI plugging into the maps, I suggest trying to resort to this method: using the Base.SC2Data versions of the ai and putting it in StarCraft II Beta\Mods\Liberty.SC2Mod (backup orig file), and then in the launcher choose NONE for ai, this has fixed all my issues when using my increased players maps, this map was done the exact same way as the one you're having issues with if you want to try it -> http://sc2.nibbits.com/maps/project/74444/shakuras-plateau-money-map (http://sc2.nibbits.com/maps/project/74444/shakuras-plateau-money-map)

Hey whenever I try to load a game with this, I can't play against competent AI.  I was wondering how to play a harder AI.  The difficulty box has none in it and that it.  How do I make that change?

i seem cannot make the replay works
=======
1. i have a windows 7
2. i download a replay from here http://www.gosugamers.net/starcraft2/replays/30541 (http://www.gosugamers.net/starcraft2/replays/30541)
3. it have a name like 3098575__-_-_MYMDeMusli.sc2Replay
4. since the replay i download using Metalopolis map, so i download from nibbits and the file called (4)Metalopolis.sc2map then i put it on StarLauncher program folder and allready appear on starlauncher maps tab i also do the same thing for the replay file

but when i press start, it only show black screen with starcraft cursor.. and nothing happens

Ps: i can play versus AI fine

i belikeve this launcher only worked back during the beta phase of starcraft 2 as the maps were in .sc2ma format where retail has them in .sc2map, i may be mistaken about the file types but i do know for sure that this launcher was used for the beta only and that the only launcher around is the sc2allin1 launcher which you can find at www.nibbits.com (http://www.nibbits.com)

(look under sc2 section, then tool and u cant miss it.)
