Benefits of Zerg Creep?

I know that Zerg units regen their health and move faster on creep, but are there any other benefits?

That's true, which provides yet another reason to spread Creep Tumors around the map... Unless your opponent destroys them (and if you're playing a cracked version, 9 times out of 10 they won't), they won't be able to expand.
