Title: How do I run .sc2map maps?
Post by: Harkz on May 09, 2010, 12:11:38 PM
Sorry for the stupid question, but how do I run them? I have a launcher and everything but my launcher doesn't see .sc2map files, only .s2ma files. Is there any way to convert these .sc2map files to .s2ma or what?

As of now, I'm loading them through the editor, then doing "test document." Is that the only way?

It's easy lol! Theres a button in the galaxy editor that launches sc2 testing your map. No need for launchers or anything else! Including you don't need a beta key. You can look for it. Its at the top of the map editor.

Hope this helps!

EDIT: Oh sorry, didnt see that you already did that. Well im pretty sure thats the best way anyways,

Alright thank you. I was wondering more along the lines of playing with AI (more than one) on .sc2maps, therefore, i'd need a launcher to set up my AI and stuff.

You can change the player setup of the map before you start the game, so that it runs with computers on it. You will just have to add the AI to the game as a mod directly, instead of using a launcher.

It would be nice if anyone found a way to make a SC2MAP into a S2MA so it could be run like a normal Blizzard map.

Here is my own Green Valleys map :) I converted it from the old Starcraft and put in cliffs myself.

This is the newest Starcrack AI, and to use it with Battle Net 2 beta, or with the map editor (afaik) you will need this in your LibertyMulti.SC2Mod folder in the starcraft 2 mods folder. Just remember to backup the original. Then when you run maps with the map editor test function, it should use this AI. I made it work by copying the melee init triggers into this map from a new test map.

I found a converter as well. Converts maps back and forth from S2MA and SC2MAP files.
