Not enough Pylons / Turn off building sounds???

Has anyone figured out how to do this?  There are no specific options for it in the sound menu, and I'd rather not turn off ALL game sounds just to get rid of the building sounds.  The nex/hatch/cc sounds are really ANNOYING, and I'm forced to listen to that crap every time I select them (even when using hotkeys)!

I remember the specific option for "building sounds" being available in the sound options for SC1.  Why the hell would they leave this option out of SC2???

The point defense drone shoots projectiles out of the sky so they dont hit your units.

They're really nasty against static defense like cannons/spores/turrets, because as far as I know, the static defenses won't target the drones (unless the player manually targets them).

So, lay down enough drones, and their static defense is rendered temporarily useless.

 It seems they're having a lot of trouble with some of the spell casting units, like the Raven, but it looks like they're pretty close to completion!   :thumbsup:

I'm done with all these goddamn "fancy" launchers... they ALL have issues, and frankly it's pissing me off.  I just want to play, I don't want to mess around for 20 minutes debugging the fkn things and changing settings left and right.

I'm permanently sticking with the StarCrack launcher posted by USMC23.  It's fast, never returns any errors when starting, and replays have ALWAYS worked, no matter what folder I put the maps in... sure, it's not that pretty, but it WORKS.

yes i'm using valkirie's new loader 0.25 there something wrong with the easy ai in base.sc2data cuz the vision only ai work fine really dunno why

Hmm, I dunno - I've only used the vision only version - I think it's just about perfect in terms of difficulty. 

As I've said before, I think resource cheating AIs are pointlessly overpowered, and on the other end of the spectrum, the "easy" AIs are always TOO easy! 

I'd just stick with the vision only!   :thumbsup:

I'm not sure what's going on, but for some reason, the launcher crashes whenever I select Lost Temple as the map.  It only crashes when I click on LT with "Unhandled exception" error.  Very weird.  It's definitely an original, untouched map, just like the rest.  They all came in the same pack.  It even crashes on the LT that I downloaded from your launcher!!! 

What's the deal with that??  :(

Also some suggestions:

1.  Add Team / FFA drop down selection box, so we don't have to bother selecting teams if we want to do 1v1.

2.  Change "none" in the game type where you select AI/Human, etc to "Closed", which should make all the selections for that slot disappear (like in Vernam's launcher).

Other than that, it's great!

i use starcraft 2 beta launcher 0.25 ;
1-put the 3 ai folders in the AI folder of starcraft beta launcer (if i start the launcher i see the 3 ai that's ok)
2-Choose a  map and start the game:

now there a 2 sub cases:

1-if i use the easy ai folder no matter what map i choose, at the end of loading screen i got the screen bugged like the link above.

2-if i use the ai folder: ..(Vision only) and i choose a non AI map, i can play regulary.

That's what i do if i did something wrong tell me plz. I havent any triggerlib folder cuz those files dont need that right?

EDIT: I just used the Original files posted above and i can use the ai without problems, those files require triggerlib? cuz i've beaten the ai so isi with original files :(

General Discussion / Disable only Building Sounds??!

I can't seem to find the setting within the sounds section to disable ONLY building sounds (I like all the other sounds).  I think the Nex/CC/Hatch sounds are VERY annoying, especially because those are the buildings I click on the most!

Maybe I've just overlooked it, but has anyone figured out how to disable just the building sounds, and leave all the rest on???  I don't think there's a way within the in-game menu, but perhaps there's some code I could tweak?  Anyone?

Vernam, excellent launcher... but I REALLY don't like the AI selection in the newest version.  For Starcrack AI, the "hard" level gives it a resource bonus of 2, which DOUBLES its resource intake. 

You really need to just let us designate a folder for all the AIs, and let us put all the Base files in there so we can select whichever AI we want easily, without having to click browse, then find it, then save every time. 

IMO, this easy/med/hard crap is useless...it should depend on how the AI is coded, NOT on whether or not the AI cheats.  I don't consider a resource cheating AI to be "hard"... you could play against a pretty crappy player with a 2x resource bonus, and he'd have a good chance of winning.  I'd simply consider it an unfair advantage that will never happen when playing another person.

* I also got the sc2.exe stopped working error + launcher crash when trying to play teams on LT.  Everything is set up correctly, and I installed the launcher to the default location.  I'm using Win 7 32-bit.  Is this an isolated issue?

  See?!  Yeah I saw this AI wasn't getting the attention it deserves on the other thread, so I had to try to share the wealth and make it known to more ppl.  ;D

And what's even more amazing, this is only v0.2!!!!  lol  I have no idea how it's so much better than the 3rd/4th/5th+ revision of other AIs, but it is.  There should be an update soon, not that it even needs one... I'll let you guys know.  Yeah, this is by far the closest I've ever felt to playing against a human.  I'm still very, very impressed.

 This AI was coded by a Chinese modder, XPL.  IMO, it's the most impressive AI by far.  Even if you're good, you'll be challenged.  He coded it to react/build appropriately for every single matchup (9 total), in addition to coding specific instructions for each race.  It does NOT resource cheat, but it does have vision. 

It shouldn't matter much though, the AI in SC1 always had full vis.  Hell, with the amount of maphacking going on in SC1, at one point I think almost everyone had full vis. lol  IMO, it's pretty sad for a person to use maphacks, but for an AI, it's the least you can do to give them some sort of a small handicap.

The author says there'll be an update soon. Let's wait for a while and I might tell him to make a Base.SC2Data version too. :) BTW,mediafire.com has been blocked by our GFW for no obvious reason. :(

What's GFW?  Should I upload it to a different file host?  I really want more ppl to try out this AI - it's very impressive!

And just curious, are you Chinese?  How exactly are you conversing with XPL?   :)

I think maybe I'll start another thread so it's less confusing - more ppl may try it out then!
