Game speed is set to normal by default?

So up until today I never noticed this, and then I changed it to Faster and it was crazy; I got my ass handed to me by the AI repeatedly.  Just letting you guys know if you don't already.  I see many people complaining that the AI is too easy, and this might be the reason.

On a side note, every time I change the speed the next game I play changes it back to normal.  Is there a way to fix this?  (It saves all my sound and graphics settings so I don't know why it's not saving the speed setting)

You can easily increase the gamespeed by pressing the "+" key on the right side of the keyboard.
