then down at the bottom of the post, there are only the first two, no "easy version"?
:(

Turd was actually being quite funny and made a copy of the cheat version and labeled it "easy." I think it was his way of getting back at the people who complain about how easy it is every time he comes out with a new version. I would have done the same thing if I spent all day coding only to hear whining.

Just play against the regular AI that comes with the beta if you're huge noob. Work your way up the versions...

Well first I went 4FFA and I think they were attacking each other too much becuz by the time I attacked the one left standing I rolled him easily. I was worried this version wasn't that much better, maybe worse.

Then I tried 1v1 (ZvZ) for the first time. This thing is ridiculous! It wouldn't let me leave my base at all! I have never seen a 24/7 rush like this. I tried to build sunken colonies toward my natural expo to fend off the constant rushes and I made it, but eventually I think he crazily expanded (I couldn't see, I was stuck) and there were just too many units one wave and I lost.

He never once went air, not sure if that was intended.

But this thing is definitely IMPROVED! THANKS MAN!

It's pretty good. In a 4FFA I finished one off and the AI finished off another and then came for me. It had massed battelcruisers and crushed me no matter how many Thors and Vikings I threw at it.

Supposed Enhancements:
- Better scouting
- Constant & Persistent expansion
- Making more use of it's money
(Turdburgler said it was what he would have written for v5.0 had it not been 4am  :-\ )

Turd also said v6.0 will be brutal: Using all of it's money, randomized build orders, reactive playing...

AI Discussion / Re: Starcrack AI V5 is out! Discuss:

I just played and the AI seems a tiny bit better than V4. The funniest thing about it is it's so persistent when rebuilding. It seemed like I had to wipe out one player 2 or 3 times before he finally was defeated. He keeps hiding scvs and building new bases wherever.

I think the consensus for improvement is:
- Stop making 8 starports and only 2 air units. In fact, a whole new effort should be devoted to start making tons of air units mid game.
- It should know to attack the rocks to expand
- The AI should keep a list of units and counters that go with that unit. Like, if it sees a battlecruiser it should know to start building upgraded hydralisks and anti-air. That would def make it ridiculously intelligent if it could start pumping out different units based on what the opponent seems to be building.
- Randomize build orders so we don't constantly see things like the terran make the same monotonous viking attack.

GREAT PROGRESS DEVS! THANKS!!!

Why do you need to? If you're comp's going slow just decrease the texture/graphic settings.

The real question is, how do we ADD more anti-aliasing?

You should really just:
1. do a clean install of the beta client
2. download the map cache files and put them in the right folder.
3. download all the AI-modded maps from nibbits or elsewhere
4. download lazylauncher2 from teknogods and open an AI-map file.

This should be written down in many of the earlier posts and on the wiki...

General Discussion / So...any update on multiplayer?
February 28, 2010, 06:41:35 PM
I know it's been like 10 days and we've gone ridiculously far (I didn't think hard AI would have been cracked nearly this fast  :D ) but since we have I was wondering if anyone's made any observations about what it would take to emulate a bnet server?  Does it look impossible? Is transmission encrypted? Would it take days, weeks, months or forever to emulate a server that linked two players together in a game?

I haven't heard much of an update since the beta first came out. Just curious...

I just realized - the best kind of AI is probably one that would randomly choose build order code every game so you never know what it will mass. As of now, the Terran AI will always mass battlecruisers, which is annoying.

AI Discussion / Re: Good Non-cheating AI?
February 28, 2010, 04:13:36 PM
OK non-cheating v4.0 was a better game. Definitely progress. THANKS DEVS!  One thing that bothered me was I attacked the AI's base and I knew he had all these units (Battlecruisers, vikings, etc.) cuz he just had attacked me with them, but I went to demolish his whole base and he never sent the units back to his base to defend. I found a ton of his units dead in the middle of the map.

But now we're just getting into the details.  ;D

AI Discussion / Good Non-cheating AI?
February 28, 2010, 11:56:46 AM
Hi,

I just played the V3.0 AI and beat it. It wasn't easy, but it was very doable. I also played against the cheating AI, which beat me easily, and got annoyed at trying to fight battlecruisers while I'm still trying to pump out roaches.

So I just want something in the middle: a hard AI that doesn't cheat so it still stays realistic. If someone makes that (something harder than V3.0) please post here?

Thanks.

After playing this once I suddenly remembered why I don't like Me vs. Computer.

Playing against a cold uncaring super-smart computer that always beats you is just depressing.

It's funny that I've been obsessing over player v. comp the entire week to suddenly realize that.  :D

For me it would open as many replays as you wanted the first time you launched the exe and then fail every other time.

We need a lazytown-like solution for that too...

like I said. More BS. I'm pretty sure the hard AI files aren't included.
