@Immortal: I'm pretty sure it is dragoon-ified Fenix, which is fitting, indeed

anyway, nice work

General Discussion / Re: Wings of Liberty plot line
March 21, 2010, 05:50:04 PM
edit: whoa, the forum seems to automatically embed youtube videos, sorry if the post is too huge

there is not much known about sc2 plot besides the fact, that we will be   doing mercenary missions along with Jim, Matt and Tychus.

There are some youtube vids, though:
Zeratul vs. Zerg (and our favourite Zerg...spawn): [HD] StarCraft 2 Zeratul/Kerrigan Intro Cinematic
continued (bad quality):   Blizzcon 2009 Starcraft 2 Lore Panel Clip 4 of 4: Kerrigan V. Zeratul
Jim meets Tychus (explains   some mercenary stuff): StarCraft II Bar Reunion BlizzCon 2008 HD
Jim meets Zeratul (explains some xel'naga stuff): Starcraft II blizzcon 07 Storymode Walkthrough Zeratul (4/4)
[what I think is] Jim reminiscing: Blizzcon 2009 Starcraft 2 Lore Panel Clip 3 of 4: Fall of Kerrigan
no real lore (Kerrigan in SC2? SHOCKER!), but CGI goodness:   STARCRAFT 2 'Return of the Zerg' Cinematic HD (BlizzCon 08)

  [speculation incoming]
From what I've seen and read I would expect the main storyline to   revolve around something like
Quotezomg there be IMBA xel'naga tech taht pwns stuff, kills stuff and then teabags stuff, so now everyone in Korpulu and their dog wants it bad, so we must get it!!!1!one!one!!!eleven!!!111
And Jimmy being, well... Jim, will end up collecting just enough to cause some trouble before he realizes what it   is, then proceeding to team up with Zeratul and heroically save the world from impending doom. Yay, happy-end! or is it... http://www.giantbomb.com/starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm/61-24078/

General Discussion / Re: Thor is kind of...unused?

Thors get mauled down by carriers, even if you direct the thors attack on each individual carrier. When ever i play TvP and protoss notices that i'm building thors, the AI instantly starts to build carriers.

I'm pretty sure you are better-off shooting interceptors down first, not just because thors deal bonus damage to them, but also to progressively cripple carriers.

castle fight/tech wars/civ wars are probably my favourite war3 maps, so something like that needs to be done (not necessarily by me, but who knows) in a thematically appropriate facade

I like thors simply for +luls they get when loaded to a dropship (if you haven't, try it)

...I wonder if 3-thor drops would be efficient (they can insta-gib a CC/hatch/nexus with their special... on lost temple, you can even hit the natural from the cliff)

SC2 Tools / Re: Best Launcher in your opinion.
March 20, 2010, 08:52:29 AM
I went from Vernam's to Valkirie to StarLauncher, which I use almost   exclusively now: it is simple and it gets the job done.

I would still recommend Vernam's all-in-one to someone who just wants to   install and play.

Does that mean that at 0.0 the AI can harvest all he likes, but he is not getting any minerals/gas, or does values below 1.0 not have any effect?

In Warcraft3, the difference between easy and medium AI is that, easy has 50% income penalty, thus I expect that you can set a handicap. Not sure, if 0.0 would be a valid value, though.

do not forget, that player limit applies to custom maps too. 16 player skirmish would be a mess, but for certain game types (think TDs, RPGs, ...) more players could be very beneficial
