Hey everyone, been lurking this website for a while now and this contest has tempted me to finally register :) .
If I am lucky enough to be picked, I can supply all the necessary files to implement the banner (and edit them to fit if necessary).
I wanted to capture the 3 different universes of Blizzard in this piece while still maintaining the overall color coding of the website. I felt it was fitting to move towards a "Tech/Grunge" theme for the banner.
Along with the banner I decided to slightly edit the coloring of the actual website, making the dark gray more of a black (you can see what I mean in the preview image). I felt this color gave the website a more dominant presence as well as better fitting the "Dark"Blizz.

Thank you for the compliments! I have updated the banner with the new motto and also updated the navigation bar to better match the new banner.
Looks great. Definitely top three, if not the best.
I really like this one... Great job! My only comment concerns the zerg character. The Protoss and Terran images are clearly direct profiles of a face... For the Zerg image I kind of have to stare at it for a second to see it.
Other than that, I love the colors for each race, love the overall design.
Edit: After looking at all the others, yours is one of the only ones with well designed buttons. For that alone I gotta say this is my favorite.
Er, erulabs, the banner isn't representing the three Starcraft races, it's representing the three universes of blizzard; Starcraft, Warcraft and Diablo.

I don't know how I missed that. I don't really know WoW so much, don't know why I thought that was a protoss.

Looks like that's supposed to be Protoss\Zerg\Terran (but instead became Scourge\Zerg\Terran), though I would personally love it if it was StarCraft\Diablo\WarCraft for the three big universes of Blizzard.

It's Arthas (Warcraft), Diablo (Diablo), and a Marine (StarCraft). Those are all taken from the newest games... WoW:WotLK, Diablo III, and StarCraft II. The second one is NOT a random zerg.
Looks nice really, just think that the Licking (wow) and Diablo images kinda move away from what the site is about, its mostly aimed at starcraft, maybe replace the other two with a protoss/zerg image
I can definitely change the portraits to be all StarCraft related, however I thought this website was for all blizzard games? I figured all the StarCraft content was just due all the hype with the beta and all. Can someone clarify?
Haven't been here long, but as far as I can tell, this site is for all Blizzard games, not just SC2. SC2 just seems the primary focus atm.
Yep, even the moto of the site is #1 for bnet bot, Battle net is not only Starcraft but warcraft and diablo as well, Don't change the WoW and Diablo character it is very good like that and one of the rare banner which truly answers to the website's objective representing all blizzard games !
it goes with the darkblizz theme quite nicely and it looks good :thumbsup:
I changed the style of the motto and also removed the Lich king since it seems to be causing some confusion. What do you guys think? Improvement?

The details underneath 'DARKBLIZZ' look pretty cool. Though I can't say I care for Thrall taking the Lich King's place... Doesn't seem to have the right feel to it.
I liked the lich king, but this one is good aswell at least it doesnt confuses the noobs ;)

Good job indeed! I liked the Lich King and I can't decide which is better but I like it now as well. My advice is to follow your vision, don't change it because one or two users see Diablo as a zerg or Arthas as a protoss, change it in a way you feel it most.
Although I prefer more space at the top of the page (I like the header to 'breathe'), you are one of my personal favorites! I enjoy rough competition, I have an entry which I thought would be a killer, but I am truly amazed because so far I've seen so many good banners/headers/logos and I am sure many of them would make the site look awesome.

I would personally put the 3 diff SC races in the banner, would just look cooler. But otherwise really nice.

I decided to experiment with the coloring of the actual website and I think making the gray more of a black gives the site a lot more of a serious presence and better matches the "Dark" blizz. You can see what I'm talking about in the preview.

Well I lied in my last post and ended up making a few more last minute changes before the contest ends. I updated the location of the login button, changed the look of the navbar buttons, and made some other minor changes that nobody is going to notice but me :D .
