Title: StarCraft II - Locale Converter (for StarFriend)
Post by: sYk0 on July 29, 2011, 05:29:50 AM
Here you go folks... :)

This is a rather simple utility to convert your StarCraft II Locale, into Taiwanese (which can be used by StarFriend  ;)).

Essentially, your locale (enUS, enGB, ruRU, zhCN, plPL, ect) will be copied to Taiwanese, in other words your game will think it's Taiwanese but be in your original locale (around 90% of data will be copied, the other data is loaded by the game from the cache folder, which shouldn't be modified).

Note: I have only tested this with the enGB version of the game, it should work with other locales (deDE, enGB, enUS, esES, esMX, frFR, itIT, koKR, plPL, ptBR, ruRU, zhCN), I tried to make it as generic as possible.

There's no readme packaged (I suck at writing help me's), hopefully the tool should be simple enough to use.

Might I suggest the following:

Edit: If your game is installed in "Program Files" (or any other directory that doesn't have write access) please run the tool as "Administrator" (or with an account that has write permission).

Enjoy,
sYk0.

1. install Starcraft 2 enGB
2. cancel the update
3. convert to TW
4. update
at this point at Blizzard Updater - 1.0.0.16117
it gives me an error

Hello,

I have a question, after you done converting do you need Map Cache from TW client and patch game to 1.3.2 or downgrade game if you had installed patch 1.3+?

I don't have free space on HDD so i can't test it  :(

I'll explain in a little more detail (sorry I did leave out a few key points)... :)

You will need update 1.3.2 of your StarCraft II client.
i.e. If you own the enGB version you will need the enGB 1.3.2 update (sc2-1.3.2-enGB.exe).

If you are doing a fresh install, do the following...

A short-cut, if you don't want to reinstall the entire game:
The short-cut may or may not work.

Is this a problem, as the files aren't hosted on a Chinese website?
If it is a problem, I will gladly remove support for zhCN.

The program was developed in Delphi/Pascal (it's what I like :P), unfortunately the components I used have been discontinued (fortunately I have a Licence with full source :) ).

Name of the components is VGScene, original website is http://ksdev.com/ (http://ksdev.com/)

ok syko, im currently having probs. it says, "you have no internet connection bla bla" after inputing the email address(or lan username) on login screen... hmmm... I'll try to fix this... but... do you think it has something to do with the chinese starfriend or english starfriend?

EDIT
after opening server.exe
(http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o340/juanmiguel_galit/1.jpg) check
input name in starcraft 2
(http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o340/juanmiguel_galit/2.jpg) check
press enter
(http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o340/juanmiguel_galit/3.jpg) fail
Im currently using en_GB converted to zh_TW client.
the thing is, I used the chinese starfriend... what mistake did I do?
or do I need a legit client or a cracked client for this to work?

note : I am connected to the internet. why is this happening to me?

Is english starfriend posted by Myst more compatible on your locale converter?

have you place the tw cache in the right place

double check if the config setting is

[ServerInfo]
IP=127.0.0.1

disable internet then open your FW just to make sure no ports are block.

Title: Re: StarCraft II - Locale Converter (for StarFriend)
Post by: sYk0 on July 30, 2011, 03:53:45 AM
Firstly, you don't need to disable your internet connection when using StarFriend, StarFriend disables connection to the Blizzard update server (when running the game via "StarCraft II.exe").

Secondly, you don't need to disable your firewall, add an exception for port 1119 and for the StarFriend server and "SC2.exe" (in "Versions\Base18092").

I used my original enGB client to test with StarFriend (I only replaced the files needed by StarFriend).

You need version 1.3.2 of your locale, or the corresponding battle.net.dll for that particular version.
Using another version of battle.net.dll will crash the client.

@miguelgalit, looking at your screenshots, you have enabled "EnableMakeRoom=1" in your server.ini config ("Make Room Function Enabled"), the user name "gg@star.friend" can only be used when "EnableMakeRoom=0", use "xxx.room@star.friend" when using "EnableMakeRoom=1".

Also, please don't quote and entire message, especially when large images are involved, it makes tracking issues difficult.

Where can I get that battle.net.dll ? Please can someone get me the working version of that DLL ?
Here is my situation: I have legal SC2 EnGB, I have patch 1.3.6, I backed it up, copied starfriend, changed locale, backed up map cache and copied there TW cache, deleted newer basexxx. When I run the server and try to connect it says and looks exactly the same as for miguelgalit.

EDIT: nvm I found it: http://uploaded.to/file/s2vgr3bb (http://uploaded.to/file/s2vgr3bb)

Again, thanks broth.

I have a question, I have this client "SC2-WingsOfLiberty-enUS-Installer", does the Locale Converter work with it?

PS: When I excecute the game it crashes before entering to the interface. I did every step like you said.

PS2: Sorry my English :B

Apparently you are writing a wrong IP in the "config.ini". You said you have a router, are you connected with wireless or through ethernet? Maybe both?

Try writing a local IP, just 127.0.0.1 but first make a ping to it. If this is successful you are in the good way.

Here is what I did and it worked just fine:
Installed EnGB Starcraft2
Updated to latest patch
Changed Locale to TW
Copied Starfriend
Deleted Basexxx folders higher than 18092
Copied the battle.net.dll (see in my previous post) to support (IMPORTANT THING!)
Turned off firewall (you actually doesn't need to do this just make rules)
Started server
Started Starcraft and connected

If I had  problem with friend connecting to game I had to ping him first, he had  to ping me and then everything worked just fine

Hello i have kind of the same issue, i follow all the steps for installing starfriend on a converted enGB but when I'm in the login screen i enter the account eg. sc2c@dark.blizz but the password box doesn't come up and it says trying to connect to blizzard and there are the offline play button and the cancel button, this is weird because i can see the Starfriend breaking news but i just can't log in, I tried everything

Updated the StarCraft II Locale Converter.

Version History:
QuoteAdded support for "enSG" locale.
Added option to choose destination locale, options are "zhTW" & "enUS" (for StarFriend 0.46).
  Added Windows Vista/Manifest for UAC.
Embedded "SFMpq.dll" into resources (the .dll is loaded and used directly from memory).

All download links in the first post.

Updated the StarCraft II Locale Converter.
Added support for "enSG" locale.
Cool, can you add support for enUS? Today I tried to use latest version on enUS fresh install which was patched to 1.3.2 and it said it can't determine the locale.

Now instead of using your converter I downloaded the english audio files and 2hrs until my taiwan client finished downloading but it would still be good if you can add enUS for my friends who probably don't want to wait forever for taiwan installer to download :D
