Trash Can / Re: Battle.net 2.0 EMU - Preview

Isn't that exactly how far the other teams have gotten?  It looks like they've logged in, but nothing farther than that.  The next part would be decrypting all the commands, if I'm correct.

Sounds cool! I wont be able to test it out for a while... but assuming it works correctly, another good map would be Shakuras Plataea -- that is if you could put the other start locations at the natural expansions or the middle bases.

QuoteFirst Post! Ok, so Blizzard does have LAN for Starcraft 2, only not the  traditional style of LAN that we are so used to. As we all know LAN is  achieved through the Battle.net system, you can still get those low  latency LAN pings, only you need an internet connection. I personally  support this movement, as it helps prevent piracy of one of the  greatest games to hit the shelves in 2010

I've been hoping for that exact feature, but would you happen to have an official link for verification?

Honestly, if the reason why people use/make maphacks is to increase their chances of winning in a ranked match... I hope they go to hell (metaphor of course), because they don't deserve to play.

Play by the rules or don't play at all.

And to reiterate what someone else said, just because we support the people who are making the cracked single player doesn't mean we'll support the use of gaining an unfair advantage.  If you played a professional sport, would you use drugs to increase your chances?

Basically, it's unethical... and if you think it's okay to cheat in anything, you need to see a counselor.  Cracking a beta may go against the wishes of the developer, but it's a free service.  The majority of the people who use the cracked version are going to buy the game anyways -- and Blizzard would not have lost any income.  Besides, with or without the cracked beta, Blizzard tends to release a demo for their games.  So if somebody chooses not to play the game because of this beta, they'd probably feel the same way with a demo.  So they really wouldn't lose any profits.

Support / Re: StarCraft 2 BETA BEST Allin1 Tool

Hey Vernam, I'm having a problem getting this to work...

It can't find the installation path for SC2 Beta.  It says that it can't find it in the default directory (and to kindly show it where to go :P ).  But no matter where I set the path, it doesn't seem to work at all -- even in the default directory.

If it helps, I have Windows 7 64bit Pro.

Hey turdburgler, just some suggestions for your next version...

-I noticed my FPS drops significantly when I build or place a unit in an area behind rocks.  The AI must be trying to get to me, but cannot because they don't destroy the rocks.
-Team AI seems to be the next thing to work on, considering how half the launchers have team modes on them
-Sometimes the AI don't get many detectors... I think every build should have detectors in them.
-I think every race needs more defense because they tend to take all their units to attack.  And I find the best way to counter the mass carriers (on the cheating version) is with mass zerglings + nydus networks.  So you can just teleport back and forth and the carriers literally just try move to the nearest point to defend.  So in other words, it's too easy to build nydus worms in the back of their bases

If I think of anything else, I'll tell ya.

Really nice work on the new version. :)  Things are working rather well... and now I'm only waiting for blizzard to balance it a bit -- because 12 carriers is really tough to counter (unless you can get corruptors).

A little suggestion for the next version (or maybe a later version), I just tested out some other guy's program that lets you choose colour, race, and teams.  But the AI aren't programmed to understand that they can have allies... and thus try to kill an allied town hall building (and thus are stuck there until somebody else kills it).  So I'm just hoping you could patch the AI so they understand the concept of "teams".  Hopefully it isn't too tough to do :S

But, I think this AI is currently better than most beta testers. :P  If I was in the beta, I'd probably spend more time with your AI.

Suggestions / Re: KeyCraft or Key Editor for SC2
March 07, 2010, 01:42:13 PM
lol not going to happen... so don't hope for it.

They keep track of all the CDkeys they hand out.  If one doesn't match, then it wont work.

Hey, good job on this new version. :)  It works quite well.  For the first time I see the AI building detectors AND they don't retreat at the site of a few units.

There is, however, one thing that I noticed.  No matter what you do, the AI doesn't change their build.  It would be good to set the AI to a pre-defined strategy throughout the game, but also make some room for countering other players.

Also, on the Lost Temple map, the AI (at least the one protoss build) never built ANY air units other than observers.  So they couldn't attack my island bases.

But otherwise, good job. :)

General Discussion / Re: LAN/Online crazy idea
March 04, 2010, 01:45:07 PM
That's what I've been wondering, myself.  But I'm pretty sure it would all depend on where the packets were encrypted, yes?  If they are encrypted before sending them to the BNE server, you probably couldn't do it this way because you'd still need to decrypt them... unless the game also decrypts received packets and BNE is just a medium of transfer between clients.  If so, then you could possibly do this. :)

I'm still rather new with programming and these concepts, but I find it very fun and interesting.

I always liked those matches in war3. :)

I would turtle up my base and gather enough air to be just under low upkeep.  My heroes were depending on my race obviously.

What I enjoyed nearly the most is the part where technically I have a very handicapped challenge to face... because I would only get about 6 gryphs whereas the enemy may be 12 hawks + something else.  So when I go out to attack, I would have to do so very carefully.

Now... the thing that kept me doing this strategy is the way that people act naturally on BNE.  I really have fun doing the strat, plus on top of that I feel good because all those people who constantly call me "noob" or "fag" or whatever other immature things that you can think of, lose.  So their pride is broken and I get to laugh at them because they couldn't figure out how to kill a dozen towers and 6 gryphs. :)

To Chainaw: You're welcome. :)

To Rain[sun]: Although I'm just speculating, if you look at the BNE2.0 screenshots, they have a list of games in them... some of which are the most popular war3 maps.  I saw at least DOTA and Elemental TD on the list, but maybe those were just fake examples for the screenies??

Actually, you may want to read a bit more into it.  I too have been really excited about the map editor -- especially since we were told before the beta begun (and therefore before the license agreement you just posted) that the map editor would be released in the beta.

But the latest news states that the editor may not actually make it into the beta.  But after further reading, I found this to be a good thing.  The reason being that the beta is going to last only a couple months, whereas they originally thought it would last longer.

Either way, they wouldn't have been ready to put the galaxy editor into the beta for several months.  So why release the editor in the final week of the beta?  We can just wait an extra couple weeks for the game to come out earlier than expected.

Galaxy Maps / Re: Galaxy Map Editor- Who's Excited!!
March 01, 2010, 07:58:44 PM
The Galaxy Editor still has a chance to be released in the beta... but according to BlizzCast #13, the beta will be over earlier than expected and therefore means that the editor may not make it into the beta.

I'm learning how to program at the moment, and I was interested in trying to code these maps and some AI for a learning experience.  Does anyone have any tips that they could share?  Or does anybody know how to actually code in such a way that the SC2 Beta would understand?
I took a look at those enhanced terran and zerg AI scripts, and it looked like C++ (at least when skimming through it).  But how did those programmers know that programming like that is what is required by the compiler inside sc2?

Is there a list of syntax keywords in an mpq file or something?
