Here in Denmark the price is seen all the way down to $35, and the graphics are very detailed. Im not sure what games you are comparing to, but it must be the way the graphics are you do not like, because when it comes down to details and effects, other games do not really keep up. Dawn of War 2 is probably the only game coming close, but I have not seen its destroyed units sliding down hills in pieces after being blown up.

I cannot compare it to C&C4, since I that game just does not have what I am looking for in an RTS, which is sad, considering C&C3 made me really like that series for the first time. But SC2 has both a good solid single player campaign and the custom map editor has already made it so much more. 2D platformers, space invaders, pac man, Snake, top down space shooters, zombie survival, tower defenses.
But if the graphics and price are the only two factors for you, I would recommend the old C&C games, they are free if I remember correctly, and quite okayish. At least the price is, the graphics are of course dated. Otherwise the first Dawn of War, there are some cheap anthology packages, and I still find the graphics in that game good.

Galaxy Maps / Re: Galaxy Editor Available?
May 22, 2010, 02:44:52 AM
This kind of makes up for the beta closing may 31. You can just setup maps in the editor for the settings you want to play, and then drag and drop the map to the SC2 exe file. I made a remake of Green Vallys, one of my favorite SC maps and now I can see how many computers I can take on it :)

I found a converter as well. Converts maps back and forth from S2MA and SC2MAP files.

You can change the player setup of the map before you start the game, so that it runs with computers on it. You will just have to add the AI to the game as a mod directly, instead of using a launcher.

It would be nice if anyone found a way to make a SC2MAP into a S2MA so it could be run like a normal Blizzard map.

Here is my own Green Valleys map :) I converted it from the old Starcraft and put in cliffs myself.

This is the newest Starcrack AI, and to use it with Battle Net 2 beta, or with the map editor (afaik) you will need this in your LibertyMulti.SC2Mod folder in the starcraft 2 mods folder. Just remember to backup the original. Then when you run maps with the map editor test function, it should use this AI. I made it work by copying the melee init triggers into this map from a new test map.

It will always be possible to find a way to make exploits. Whoever made this exploit is not likely to stop making exploits on account of the game going retail. I guess I can just add this to the list of why I am happy not to buy the game. I want the game to play LAN and single player. Compared to the first Starcraft, this game is missing a third of the whole game. Since the Zerg campaign is the one I am looking forward to the most and that it is another expansion, the game lacks even more for me.
So I will definitely not have any moral issues using emulated battle net servers to play this game multi player, or whatever ways that is found to make multiplayer possible in LAN without Internet. And it makes it easier to avoid those fucks using these kinds of exploits. I mean, get a life. Some people just want to win, but avoid the challenge? When I was a kid I always found cheat codes for the games, and they got boring really fast. Then I found out how much better the games were when not cheating.
It seems like some kids just do not grow up figuring that out, or they are just really bad loosers. I wonder how it then feels when loosing even when using these hacks and cheats? lmao

SC2 Tools / Re: StarCraft II Launcher

Nice :) This tool has it all now it seems. Well, except choosing start location, but that is not really a usual Blizzard option anyway from what I remember.

I have thought about a "turtle AI" would be awesome as well. One that allows you to test how well your offense is, because usually the AI does not make a strong defense, unless you attack it while it is still building its army. At the moment it is mostly about beating the attacking army, and then it should be possible to wipe the AIs base. Although it does take skill now to defend the first few attacks now, and also giving the AI time to build its late game army can be dangerous, since it usually comes up with some good armies.
I hope the zerg queen thing will be fixed. One queen per hive is good, but not if all these queens go to the same hive / hatchery. I guess even amongst the zerg, females like to gossip

I had completely forgotten about this command. I will try to see if I can make it work some way.

Another reason I only want to play in LAN. There will always be loosers there who finds it fun just hacking their way to victories. When players like you loose a game, it must really be embarrassing when using maphacks was not even enough  :D

The good thing is that Blizzard will use your program to find ways to detect hacks on Battle Net 2 and ban your testers  lmao

I can see the fun in hacking a game, cracking it, and making something like multi player work without Internet. But why is it so fun to make hacks that actually makes SC2 less fun for other players? I guess it is for the same reason that it is fun to win against people you do not know, which I do not really understand either.

AI Scripts / Re: Hardest AI?
March 14, 2010, 01:49:15 PM
Blizzard's AI when SC2 is released should not be expected to be better than the AIs made here. The only thing they might make better with their AI is full use of all abilities of all units. I think some of the openings that the Starcrack AI is using is better than the openings the Blizzard AI will be using. Blizzards AI might be better at mid and later game at least compared to the 6.1.1 AI, but I know it is only a matter of time before something better than the Blizzard AI is made.
I am guessing that Blizzard will still make an "insane" difficulty with double resources. So far I really like how they have made the AI and the tools behind it. They have made it possible for the AI to be somewhat "human" with APM limits and having to scout. I remember playing Warcraft 3 a lot. So much that I got used to knowing where they would attack. They would always attack the last expansion that was built, so on 2vs2 just make the first two expansions fast, and make sure the second one is where the defense will be put. Even at insane, after taking out the first 2-3 armies (2vs3 or 4) it was quite possible that they would just come with few scattered units that was easy to beat.
I am hoping the AI for SC2 will be so good that AI teams will know how to coordinate attacks and defenses.

I have been playing 1vs2 since team became an option, and since I seem to have been loosing quite a bit with zerg, I have been playing them. Also because they are my favorite choice of race.

I got up against a team of 1 zerg and 1 terran, using the non cheating 6.1.1 AI. In the old SC I managed to win against 4 AI. I know some managed to beat a full map of AI. I guess that is just my micro that is not that good, or I have not figured out the best tactics.

I played a few games to make this one succeed. The map was lost temple, and I started out making 4-8 spore crawlers.  I went expansion asap, before the spawning pool even.  After that I got the spawning pool, and an evolution champer, while all the drones I could. I made a queen for both hatcheries as soon as I could, and then kept building drones, making 8 spore crawlers when possible. That was enough for the first 2 attacks from terran and zerg.

I used my queen to heal the spore crawlers a bit. Sure is very important when playing defensive zerg. I then got some roaches and zerglings to help my towers, and four anti air towers in front of my spore colonies. After I had gotten my first broodlords I went to expand to one of the corner islands. The enemy zerg had the same idea so my broodlords removed that base. I then mostly used a combination of my broodlords and masses of corrupters and 3-7 broodlords to defend myself and secure another expansion before the zerg got to use it.

I think I mostly won by draining the AIs of ressources, but terran kept spamming air units so maybe not. Had 2-3 attacks of vikings and battle cruisers. They did succeed in taking out my first two bases, but they had not more gas or minerals anyway, so I just moved my towers to the 4th expansion along with all my units. Always had a few queens to heal my flying units. Zerg was also spamming corrupters after I had attacked them a bit, but no broodlords. They probably would not have helped zerg much anyway, my defenses were better than their attacks.

I guess I was lucky terran did not go for siege tanks :) I was happy to win against 2 AIs though, and I did not close the entrance, even though I do not know if that is even still a problem for the AI.

just upload the replay file next time. it almost ezer
Although we would need the same maps as his and in the same folders. Or at least in the cache. I do not think it is enough just to have them in cache.

I already did this but when i select difficulty in the dropdown box,
It says none. I extracted the triggerlibs already.  :'(

and teams dont seem to work, I select team1 for one computer and me but I dont see his base.
So I assume were not allied. :(
The folder you choose for AI, needs to have the AI folders in them, and in each of these folders in the AI folder there needs to be a TriggerLibs folder with the AI files. What you will see in the launcher is the names of folders with a TriggerLibs folder in them.

Seems sad that some people wants to use hacks against other players. If such players finally win a game using these programs, does it actually give a feeling of accomplishment?
Against AI just to learn the game and try out some stuff, knock yourself out. As for playing ladder and against other players, why risk the Beta account with this?
I wont ever be playing ladder. The ones playing there are too good for me, and I will never find enough time for SC2 to be able to compete there. Also without LAN I wont even by the game, because that is what I do when I play games. I might as well play against the AIs instead of playing against people I do not know when it comes to that.
And all this makes these hacks seem even more pointless. It gives an empty ladder rank.
The pack overall is probably nice though, having everything and all that.

SC2 Tools / Re: Earlier version of lazylaunch
March 12, 2010, 11:07:10 AM
There are some different launchers uploaded here:
http://dionysus.dk/SC2/
Maybe one would work for you, but it does sound a bit like the problem is Starcraft 2 wont run. You might want to check to see if your Anti Virus is Norton, AVG or Mcafee. Not sure what AVs do not stop these launchers from working other than Avast, the free version without firewall. Not sure about the version with firewall.
