Lol, wave invites are worthless, just PM me and I'll give them to you for free I have like 25 of them.

Looks neat, nice work.

I think you might want to exercise some restraint though because that thing is huge, and while it looks cool, would start to get obnoxious after a while lol (and how's the filesize?). I can't really see this thing ever being practical.

Thanks for the posts!

The modified sidebar just replaces the black with my custom explosion-blur bg. The reason I did it in two parts is because that's how it appears to be on the site now, so it would make for an easier transition (just drop them in).

You can use the Blizzard typeface without infringing on copyright  ::)

Interesting use of the square news panels.

Quote from: ProzaicMuze on March 27, 2010, 12:26:04 PMThat's not to say that creating an interface for said program isn't artistic, but that's usually not what we're talking about and in many cases that part is outsourced to a designer.  You CAN expand upon the functions in the program, but each function is usually created in near identical ways.  Why?  Because you can't change the way the code itself functions.

What does this even mean? I'm a programmer and the sentence "You CAN expand upon the functions in the program, but each function is usually created in near identical ways." is sort of a dead giveaway to me that you're talking past your knowledge level because it makes absolutely no sense.

You can't get away with weasly nonsense statements like the above on a website full of programmers  :D .

I've always liked that background render, bit large though, what would it be used for?

Looks familiar... lol  :(

Nice though.

Thanks  :)

If the motto is going to be changed (to Making B.NET Magic, for example), and mine is picked, I can easily change the motto as well.

Cool, but do we really need to make the sidebar D:?

I wouldn't think you would need to, however I felt mine would look much better if the explosion could transition across. Otherwise you're limited to transparent BGs (or you'd have a harsh vertical line going down the right side of your image).

Unfortunately you can't do either :/

You can certainly do so, the parameter just needs to be passed in by reference.

Here is the banner:

Here's the sidebar:

Here's how it would look on the site:

The reasons I went with this design:
- The banner is shorter than the current banner, cutting about 40px off and decreasing the size, increasing space for site content
- The banner is not explicitly starcraft, but has strong connections with starcraft, which will most likely be a key game from here out (and certainly is now)
- I feel that the color (the greys behind the explosion) matches the site layout well.
- You can directly replace the two current images (banner and sidebar) with these two, making the change effortless.

Thanks!

About #3:

a) I'm assuming that you wouldn't have us interface with your actual server, instead create a GUI with an interface that can easily be adapted to work with it. Am I correct here?

b) Would you accept a flash entry for #3? (for instance, the uploader on imageshack is flash)
