Well, It looks like we got stickied!
Because of this monumental occasion I am working hard to clean up the organization of this thread, my goal is to create a strong and knowledgeable space, in which readers can ascertain the very best and most up to date information!

Step-by-step guide
1 ) Go to your Diablo 3 folder
2 ) Copy the Diablo III.exe and make a shortcut
3 ) Right click and choose properties
4 ) In the end of location add the following line (after quotes):
-launch -auroraaddress 127.0.0.1:1345
It should look something like this now:
X:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo III Beta\Diablo III.exe" -launch -auroraaddress 127.0.0.1:1345
(depends on the location of your installation, could be on different hard drive in a different folder)

5 ) If you didn't already download the sources, go to
6 ) Press "Downloads" and download the sources in a zip-archive
7 ) Extract the files from the zip

8 ) Follow this guide to compile the server:

10 ) Got to the source folder and D3Sharp.sln with Visual Studio
11 ) In Visual Studio: on top Menu navigation bar press the drop down [Debug -> Build solution]. Or hit F6 on your keyboard.

because the new releases with mobs and big maps cause me few spikes, i really hope at orginal game i wont have them :S
Answer by Abaddon - Older versions didn't have almost anything in them, just the character, some npcs and terrain. That's all. This one features like 1/3 of the things the oficial beta actually has. As releases are updated, you will need to lower the graphics to play it (this includes doodads, physics, spells, mobs, map extensions, etc.)
