I know it's been like 10 days and we've gone ridiculously far (I didn't think hard AI would have been cracked nearly this fast  :D ) but since we have I was wondering if anyone's made any observations about what it would take to emulate a bnet server...

Well since you've gone ridiculously far in cracking the beta, why don't you tell us what your eta is on a server...

I heard on the piratebay comments that there was a way to get into a game but without the ai. Is this true? Because i would even be happy to just build stuff just on my own.. so i can play around a bit with it. Hope i don't bother u guys too much. xD

You're asking in the wrong place. Use TPB and IRC for questions like that. I believe the intent of these boards is for dev's to discuss issues and ideas they have, as well as for definitive updates and as guides (such as watching replays) become available.

For those of you not able to assist in cracking and are here and in IRC simply to get updates (myself included), I suggest this unofficial twitter site:

This person has been doing a tremendous job providing frequent and in-depth updates on the dev's progress. Besides being a one-stop place for updates, you can avoid the massive spam in IRC and frequent server issues with these forums being flooded with traffic. I've found it to be much more convenient for a quick update of the dev's progress.

you would think, or at least I do, that the only thing required to crack the create a game function would be to change the fact that the program accesses some list on b.net to get maps and just get the maps from a server and then make the actual connection part work over lan or private servers or such.

That essentially is the only obstacle to playing solo. However the solution to that problem requires somehow replicating a b.net connection and sending a list for loading maps. That in itself creates many more challenges. I would assume then that since a portion of the connection to bnet has to be emulated that the dev's will be exploring how to create a full  blown server for multiplayer games as well. We'll see though.

"I receive the error  "**temp** one or more of these files which are needed to play this game are not available locally. They must be downloaded first"

This error is due to the fact that the map files you're using do not contain all the maps available in the beta. So while some replays work, any that were played on a map you don't have will give you the error. If you get this error for every replay it means that you haven't copied the files into your cache folder correctly.

DEBUG CONSOLE:

Download the console mod at http://www15.zippyshare.com/v/74127027/file.html place the battle.net.gfx into "C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II Beta\Battle.net"To use the console, click multiplayer, then CO-OP vs A.I.

Can we make this forum the go to place for definitive updates? The IRC channel is nice to follow, but important updates can get lost in all the other posts. If someone from the dev channel could create a stickied post with updates and links it would be much simpler.

Just trying to get these boards started here... ::)

EDIT:
Here's the link to the twitter page with updates:

Considering all the problems this site has with the huge amount of traffic its getting, twitter is a much better place to go than having to check a forum post for updates.
