SC2 Tools / Re: Best Launcher in your opinion.
March 19, 2010, 06:24:26 AM
I only tried Vernam7's launcher and Valks' launcher, but the latter is by far better. Some reasons:

1. Can customize AI and name them whatever you want
2. Automatically works with latest version of the game
3. Can choose what version you want
4. Doesn't have an extremely pretentious and arrogant name (BEST tool? come on...)
5. Doesn't require installation

While I admire Vernam7's support for his launcher (rapidly updating whenever new AI/base version is out), it's really not as good as Valk's launcher for more advanced users. I do realize that he has made an extraordinary amount of effort into making his launcher work for the technologically illiterate user though.

Umm Rapidshare/Megaupload premium account >>> all and RS/MU are pretty much better than most of the file sharing sites anyway.

Seriously, stop thinking just from your point of view. If I was an uploader with a RS premium account of course I'd upload to RS.

Yea I can't stand rapidshare and (IMO) people that use it fail... even if you have a pro account, that doesn't mean everyone else does (idk who would even).

This might be news for you, but the world doesn't revolve around you. lmao

Don't like RS/MU? Go find some Mediafire links. Oh wait, you can't? Well maybe people have good reasons to upload to RS/MU. Nobody's forcing them.

ERROR SOLUTION: READ PEOPLE READ! >:(
Please, just uncheck that damn "Use internet" check box and no more error should appear

+1 so i am making this HUGE!
but this needs to be fixed  :P  later on i quess.

btw i cleaned up your trolling garbages, someone has to clean up this forums :P

dude most of the posted error messages aren't due to not being able to connect to the server. if you read the error message it says something like "Could not find file 'D:\Games\StarCraft II Beta\Logs\MapInfo'."

it's not gonna get solved just by unchecking that damn box

although that box should be unchecked by default. consider implementing that in the next version? it makes no sense to have a server check by default.

Never mind, I got it downloaded! This release is perfect now that you've removed the need for an internet request. I can't thank you enough!

This launcher connects to the server? What the hell for? And why every time I do something as simple as just clicking on a map? I can obviously understand if I wanted to check for an update but just clicking on a map? wtf?

Kinda buggy atm, for example it forced me to choose 3 AIs on 2-player LT.

It is effectively 2.6.0, the AI files are Starcrack 6.0. It just says 2.5.7 for the time being. ;)

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I am on Win7 32-bit. I have .net framework 3.5 SP1. I am using 0.20. Can someone tell me what is wrong here?

Great job on the launcher, it is working perfectly. Although one should be able to control what name the AI is displayed as, that way you don't have to keep changing the code every time Starcrack AI is updated.

Either way, it works perfectly with Starcrack 6.0 (as it should)!

suggestion: try not walling against a comp?  :D

I was just doing what I normally do in a real game. Don't really find it purposeful to deviate from it when playing against the computer. I play the AI with the goal of practicing for 1v1.
You are playing against this AI for the wrong reason if you are practicing for 1v1 matches. It isn't going to get you much for that. If anything it will just make you develop bad habits. Or turn in to a complainer on how easy the AI is. This AI is really good for practicing your macro though. Try to make sure you are always low on minerals and gas. That is what this AI is great for. Practice the macro!

100% agreed. Anyone who whines about the AI not being cheeseproof is an idiot. I bet a lot of people here can't even beat the non-cheating AI straight up. Either way, I suggest everyone try beating the cheating AI straight up. Now that's a challenge.

Great job on the AI btw, 6.0 is very good!
