But will it save your progress too when you play offline?

Because the button for offline play seems to be called "play as guest".

I hope it doesn't mean "play temporarily as a guest". I want to be able to save my progress offline too!
And why don't they just make a system where progress, achievements, etc are stored offline and then synched with the online account when you want to connect there?

I did it another way:
Took zerg. Located the base of player 2.
Built lots of zerglings (rallied them outside my base in a hidden spot) and another base. Posted units at the watch towers.
Once I saw him arriving with his huge army, I raced to his base with all zerglings and destroyed it (He only had 2 pylons and a nexus).
:)

This worked well with only one AI (i.e. only player 2).

With 3 AIs, I had more difficulties because they kept harrassing me. That's probably why I also couldn't take all bases like you did.
But I'll try.
Nuking a whole active army should be more fun then destroying just a few buildings. :)

The observers are only at the center of the map and seem to stay there, so cloaked ghosts should work indeed.
Army consists of:
-Phoenixes
-Mutalisks
-Medivacs
-Motherships
-Battlecruisers
-Ultralisks
-Thors
-Banelings

General Discussion / Re: Terran smokers -- WHY?

The protoss use Sundrop: http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Sundrop

Thanks. Interesting summary.

What bothers me most is the extreme nerfing of the mothership.
They could have kept it extremely powerful, but harder to get and maybe have added a warning for all players like in the case of a nuclear launch.
That way, people can try to prevent it being constructed.

In Lore: The protoss send out a broadcast message to call home the motherships. Such a broadcast message, which needs to reach far into space, could be intercepted by enemy forces on the planet.
Ok, well, then they still couldn't prevent it from arriving...  ::)

Anyway, I'm disappointed. It was supposed to be powerful and now it's just a unique arbiter.
On the other hand, I never "needed" it so far against the AI and have no idea how it plays out in real multiplayer.

General Discussion / Use your illusion custom map
March 05, 2010, 03:21:07 AM
Has anyone managed to beat this custom map?:
http://www.nibbits.com/sc2/maps/view/131505/use-your-illusion

It starts as a normal FFA game (because there doesn't seem to be any other way of starting it), and after a while a huge multiracial force of Ultralisks, Thors, Motherships (yes, more than one), phoenixes, etc starts eliminating all PC players and yourself.

In the center of the map, there's a huge mass of medivacs healing the army from time to time.

Only way I currently see of beating it, is destroying the player 2 buildings as quickly as possible, because the forces seem to belong to player 2.
Haven't tried it again yet tough.

There isn't enough time to build sufficient forces to destroy the army, unless I'm too slow.
Rush nukes maybe, but even that might take too much time.
And it destroyed one of my observers, so it might even have observers in there. :/

edit:
Mmh, or the use your illusion replay technique...  ::)

I actually have a full export of the registry and wanted to do a grep on it, but that doesn't seem to work. It has spaces between each character.

I'm running it on XP.
I'll see what I can do about the registry entries once I'm back under Windows (GNU/Linux dual-booter here ;) ).

If you can tell me exactly which keys you need, it might be faster.

Why don't you reinstall the beta and launcher+cache files directly?
Worked without any problems for me, except for the different paths, which weren't hard to find.
I followed these instructions: http://darkblizz.org/Forum2/not-enough-pylons/full-instructions-on-how-to-install-starcraft-2-play-against-ai/
edit: Ok, read your other post. You lack install permissions...

Sorry, voted on poll before reading post.
Replays didn't work for me last time I tried. Will try your method later.

Gives me an idea of something to try against the AI...  ::)
I wonder if it will work.

First found the uncracked beta client on TPB shortly after it was launched (Yippie! Music!), then found this site via google later. (have been googling starcraft 2 related stuff almost daily since January. ^^')

So no, not really from TPB.

General Discussion / Re: Just a quick thanks!
March 01, 2010, 05:04:59 AM
Thanks from me too. :)
Just tried it last night for the first time actually.
Only played terran sandbox and protoss vs protoss so far, but enjoyed it a lot. :)

AI v4 was easy to beat with dark templars tough.
If they had rushed me with their massive army of zealots earlier, it would have been an easy win, since my dark templar "rush" was very slow. ( It was more of a "self-defense with dark templars -> massive expand -> destroy base -> have fun discovering all new protoss stuff" )

Way more work for them to add a feature nobody needs, right?

Is it really that much work?
I don't know how the launcher works. But I guess you may be right.
Otherwise, I see no reason why they didn't include it directly.

However, some people apparently managed to edit the maps to add enemy units:
http://darkblizz.org/Forum2/index.php?topic=566.msg2204#msg2204

Would it be possible to create custom maps letting you play as a predetermined race?

Would it be difficult to add a race chooser to the launcher?

I would erase your post or re-phrase it, pointing people away from that "crack" not toward it.
100% fake.
Done. I just added a big warning.

Sorry dodongbadong. I hope you didn't find it through my post.
It's probably safest to reinstall Windows if possible.
