change player name / AI name possible?

I also would like to see this feature.

Technically, it is possible to change the name in the same way that you change the race or player color or number of players in a map. However, people havent gotten it working yet, hopefully someone will figure it out eventually. If anybody else also wants this feature post in this thread so that it will get more attention!
