Attention everyone who wants a maphack for anything more than for testing your own AI in controlled conditions or similar testing.  You are pathetic.  If you feel a need to have a crutch like this to help you win against people, then you suck totally.  Please don't use these online, it's pathetic.

QuoteI notice in your map pack, there are some 'novice' map?
have any idea what's the diffrence is??

Novice maps are the same for the most part, except that the opening/ramp leading into your base will be rocked off.  It's designed to keep people from rushing.  You'd have to break out of your own base, and break into the other base.. that will take alot of extra time.
I don't endorse this style of play. I just wanted to get the original, full 14 maps out there for those who wanted them.

QuoteI noticed this too, and i've yet to find all of the maps. Everything I find has AI built in, and I want official maps.

ok, it seems like this launcher permanently alters your maps, so make sure you have a backup copy of all your maps, cuz this launcher changes them..

there's also a few bugs.. the team functions don't work properly on certain maps.

I wondered about this as well now.. After the other launcher and it's map changing, I keep a close eye on my map files now. And I noticed that when I play with this launcher now, the file.date stamp changes on the map I used. However, I didn't investigate further to see if it's actually changed, or was just time/date stamp change.

Zoxc's is the best launcher still, IMO.  This one will do teaming, but if Zoxc can add that to his, then it'll totally rock. His newest one (2.2.2) also dispenses with the need for Lazy Launcher. Once he get's proper teaming into the mix, I think his will be best. I like the interface and functionality of it the most.

Others still have yet to even get races and colors into the mix.  But in the long run, theirs may also be quite cool.  But at this moment, I feel that Zoxc's launcher, with full team options working, would be complete and awesome.

But kudos to this author for figuring out the team issues.  Major kudos.

sigh.. I don't know why I bother to try to help. People jumping all over me, and with bad info.

It ABSOLUTELY changes the map. You can test it yourself to prove it.

Take an unspoiled map that has no AI on it. An original, untouched official map.

Load it with Lazy Launcher. Note is says "VICTORY!" right away.  Because the map has no AI on it by default.

Now, use this new launcher to setup a game on that same map, the way you want it.  Put in AI's, etc.  And launch and play.

After you quit the game, go back to Lazy Launcher, and load the original map again. Viola, it now has AI's on it, when it was unspoiled before.  Because he physically changes that source map, permanently.

I think you just don't understand.  Yes, the launchers take an original map and modify it to use AI.  THE DIFFERENCE IS THE OTHER LAUNCHERS DO SO BY CREATING A NEW, TEMPORARY MAP FILE TO LAUNCH FROM.   THEY DO NOT MODIFY YOUR ORIGINAL SOURCE MAP IN ANY WAY.

If you don't get it, I can't explain it any more clearly.  I'm just trying to warn people that they will end up getting their maps changed. It's a legitimate and unexpected concern.  Yet I get people jumping down my throat as if I'm off my rocker, or don't know what I'm talking about.. or making a big deal about something trivial.

It's not trivial.  It's NOT the the proper way for a launcher like this to work.  It will ultimately change all your map files irrevocably. It shouldn't do that. It should leave them unspoiled.

Someone help me out here. I have not the patience to keep trying to explain this.

It's a completely legitimate concern and worthy of making known to people who want to use it, if for no other reason than to make sure they backup their files. People won't be expecting their source map files to be altered.

I'm not trying to put the launcher down, I think it's great otherwise.  I am just trying to be helpful, and warn people of the potential problem.  So they aren't later going "Why are all my maps messed up, HELP!!".

I assure you I have not been to any Chinese forums.  Someone from there must have read my post here, and cut/paste it over there.

I hardly think making people aware that this launcher will irrevocably alter their source map files is "spamming".  I am just making sure it's known. I said it in the other thread, and once again in this thread.  That's it.  Feedback.

Yes, we can back them up ourselves. I'm just warning people that it changes their files. I can't imagine why it makes you so uptight.  It should be absolutely fair to warn people about it.

And people need to be aware that this launcher permanently changes your source map files. Unlike other launchers which modify them for play by making a temporary map file to launch from, and then leaving the original untouched.  With this launcher, when you have played a game and quit, the map file in question is unquestionably changed/modified still after the fact.

This seems like poor form, IMO.

SC2 Tools / Re: StarCraft II Launcher

Woah, it works without need of Lazy Launcher now? Bravo!

Frankly, I find this to be the best launcher of them all.  In my opinion.  Very well done.

Now if you can just incorporate the new player / team settings that seem to be working in that newest 0.3 launcher being talked about in other threads down there, this would be absolutely complete.  They have it working where you can team up with computers (although I'm more interesting in putting computers teamed AGAINST me 8) )

Oh, and the whole thing we talked about regarding replays. I have stared a thread in this subforum with details about the entire problem of making launchers create replayable maps, if you can look at it, and possibly try to incorporate any ideas.

But GREAT WORK, I love this launcher.  I took the time to put virtually every AI out there in existence into the thing.  Nearly 40 of them.

The problem is that it modifies the source map permanently, which should be a no-no.

Other launchers load the source map file in, make the changes, but save it out to the drive as some temporary map file to be launched.

This one changes the map file in your directory and doesn't revert the changes. So if you started with unspoiled maps, with no changes, they will not stay that way.  It just seems like a bad way to deal with things.  It should be able to create a playable game, on a map, without changing your source map files permanently. The others do it by use of a temporary map file, created on the fly per usage.

This launcher does not incorporate AI changes. You'd have to manually put the baseSC2data file in place yourself. If you haven't done so, it's using the default Blizzard (brain dead) AI.
#13
I agree.  I am just letting people know. Make sure you have a good backup of all the original, untouched maps somewhere else before you mess with this. It will change them on you.  I just was warning people more than anything.

Trash Can / Re: Re: Starcraft II - Beta Launcher

That launcher works for AI teaming (YAY, someone figured it out!)  but it DEFINITELY MODIFIES YOUR SOURCE MAP, PERMANENTLY.

For replays from the real beta, you just need the full cache files for the real maps and stuff. They are out there in a number of places.  I don't have a link handy.  But for normal, real beta replays, you need all the cache files in place to watch them.
