SC2 Tools / ZOOM mod for Bnet use????
April 28, 2010, 08:38:36 AM
Can someone please let me know if anyone has figured out a way to use ANY zoom mod on bnet?  I don't think it should be called a hack at all, because zooming out 20% is not cheating at all.  It should be called a mod.

The default zoom is driving me fkn crazy - the furthest zoom setting (default @ game start) is WAY too close!! Before I got into the beta, my offline zoom hack was working perfectly - I even customized all the values myself in the CameraData file within the Base file in the core folders.  I set about a 15% further zoom out, and changed the angle to more of an overhead view (70 deg), and it was PERFECT!!!

It's not working at all on Bnet however  :bangshead: Before the game finishes loading (pre-game loading screen), it keeps disconnecting me and crashes to the desktop with a desync error.  Maybe it won't desync if the zoom hack is applied AFTER the game starts?

I just got into the beta, and upon playing my first few 1v1's, I noticed pretty quickly that every single opponent sucked pretty badly.  Then I played a few 2v2's and got lucky by just happening to get a somewhat decent partner, while the other two players pretty much always sucked...

That said, I'd like a good 2v2 ally, so if any of you are good, let me know your bnet name, and I'll add you as a friend..  ;)

If you're not in the beta yet, I'm sure you've heard by now - (if you're in the US - not sure about Europe) it's as easy as going to GameStop, and leaving a $5 deposit for a SC2 pre-order.  They'll then print out a receipt with TWO beta keys.  You don't even have to pay the remaining $55 for the game until it actually ships, whenever the hell that will be!  So essentially, you're paying only $5 to get you AND a friend into the beta for as long as the beta lasts.

p.s. I've already given out my other key, sorry...

Not enough Pylons / Turn off building sounds???
March 30, 2010, 10:57:02 AM
Has anyone figured out how to do this?  There are no specific options for it in the sound menu, and I'd rather not turn off ALL game sounds just to get rid of the building sounds.  The nex/hatch/cc sounds are really ANNOYING, and I'm forced to listen to that crap every time I select them (even when using hotkeys)!

I remember the specific option for "building sounds" being available in the sound options for SC1.  Why the hell would they leave this option out of SC2???

It seems they're having a lot of trouble with some of the spell casting units, like the Raven, but it looks like they're pretty close to completion!

General Discussion / Disable only Building Sounds??!
March 27, 2010, 09:23:31 AM
I can't seem to find the setting within the sounds section to disable ONLY building sounds (I like all the other sounds).  I think the Nex/CC/Hatch sounds are VERY annoying, especially because those are the buildings I click on the most!

Maybe I've just overlooked it, but has anyone figured out how to disable just the building sounds, and leave all the rest on???  I don't think there's a way within the in-game menu, but perhaps there's some code I could tweak?  Anyone?

Thanks!

AI Scripts / Amazing AI !! (try it out)
March 25, 2010, 08:13:15 AM
This AI was coded by a Chinese modder, XPL.  IMO, it's the most impressive AI by far.  Even if you're good, you'll be challenged.  He coded it to react/build appropriately for every single matchup (9 total), in addition to coding specific instructions for each race.  It does NOT resource cheat, but it does have vision.

It shouldn't matter much though, the AI in SC1 always had full vis.  Hell, with the amount of maphacking going on in SC1, at one point I think almost everyone had full vis. lol  IMO, it's pretty sad for a person to use maphacks, but for an AI, it's the least you can do to give them some sort of a small handicap.

Strategy AI v0.21 (3 different levels included in .Zip file):

*This is the same AI as in Jason Born's post - kudos to him for finding it!  I just uploaded the entire Base.SC2Data file to make it easier.

I'm mirroring this from the SC2 beta forum...

Artosis asks for their thoughts on SC2 Beta at the end of each interview.  It def seems like the pro SC BW players don't really care about SC2.  I guess since SC BW is a job for them, there's no hype for SC2 at all like there is here and in Europe.  No one he interviewed said they even liked the game, although maybe it's too early in beta to tell.  I bet Blizz is somewhat concerned about that though.
