Not enough Pylons / SC2 & BNet n00b FAQ
March 07, 2010, 08:11:29 AM
Hi there,

just wanted to start a n00b SC2/BNet FAQ, as I'm a n00b myself concerning this. ^^ ;)

BNet - Questions:

1. How can I add a "stranger", e. g. player I played against/with as a SC2 friend? Because I until now only had their nick, not their ID. And not always is their ID same/near (or can't be) their nick name. (I mean I also had this problem when choosing mine. And it won't get better with the masses...)
2. What does these "Bonus pool" points mean and do? What if I run out of them?

3. There seem to be states that show up next to ones rank, e. g. "relaxation" (! wtf?). What do they indicate? (Translated the term, hope you understand...)

SC2 - Questions:

1. How long are the game phases approximately, so early-, mid- and late-game? (10 minutes per phase I'd guess...)

You're welcome to continue the list of n00bie question (as long as the mods are ok with this ^^), I can add them myself too, if you like that better of course.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there guys,

thanks for your tools, effort and engagement we all profit from! You're great! :)

One thing I thought about and like to propose is a APM-Tracker + maybe Trainer.
After watching some replays I noticed I obviously suck at APM, but also I need to watch each replay and let it progress to really see my average APM at this game. This sucks. ;)

So maybe you'd enjoy to build sth. that could analyze ones replay files?
I know such a tool was available for SC1/Broodwar! (Just googled around and found this: http://soisuck.blogspot.com/2008/11/guide-to-getting-high-apm.html)

The second idea is that maybe even an APM-Trainer (see above blogpost) would be possible, to really get rid of ones bad habits / inability? I know there must be another way then just "spamming"! I know I have to improve+increase my hotkey use for example, but there is still resistance somehow, maybe even because I played the cracked beta with EN (GB?) hotkeys all the time and now I have DE hotkeys...

Anyway, hope you like my idea and I hope it is ok to ask so boldly. :)

Thanks again & kind regards,

Not enough Pylons / Battle.net Win - when?
March 06, 2010, 07:30:48 AM
Hello,

just a quick question from a very confused player. Just playing my qualifying matches and was losing the first, won the second.
He neither gg'd (the second one) nor went out, so I destroyed all his structures and the pop-up showed me "Victory" ("Sieg" in German ^^). Now I went back to the menu, yet there was a small round circle saying "game running"?! WTF?!  ???

And yes, as I looked in my stats, still 9 games to go and 0 won, hello? Can anyone explain this to me?
I watch countless games on streams, replays and played my own against AI, what is going on here?

Kind regards.

Hi there,

I just got my Beta access tonight (seems Blizzard doesn't put keys out there, but just connects the accounts?), saw it first in the battle.net and then got an e-mail later.

I'm on eu.battle.net (Germany) and I just simply cannot login!

*edit3* removed the files out of obvious reason.
(Clarify: I mean in SC2 when executing the *.exe, not on the URL/webpage, that works!)
I do use an Ethernet DSL connection, firewall is ESET Smart Security v.4.2 and my router is AVM Fritz!Box 7270.
*edit1* I did open the ports 1119-1120 (TCP) and  6112-6119 (TCP + UDP) and did allow all SC2.exe stuff in my firewall.
*edit2* Attached a screenshot, thanks to FRAPS. :)

I did use your AI stuff before, so I uninstalled it, used CCleaner (but didn't restart) and then installed the "official" *.exe and patched it. Already then it didn't work, I restarted.

I googled around and searched through the official Blizzard/B.Net forums, didn't find ANYTHING, they always have connection problems or with password, but not with the B.Net name!
Could it be related to the "cracked" install before?

I already mailed Blizzard via their web form, obviously not mentioning the above!

I attached the DXDiag, the MSInfo, the tracerout and the Battle.Net Diagnose Tool Log (found this tool somewhere around the official forums). I only removed my name from the B.Net Diagnose log, except for that everything is original.

Btw., another question would be, could I continue to somehow use/test your AIs while gaming online on B.Net? I'm mainly into B.Net, but I might want to check out your work! :)

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

PS: On top of all that I have the "wrong" graphics card/NVIDIA, so I got crashes until installing an old driver version of NVIDIA.
