If he has the money why not?
$320 is more than half my monthly pay so i wouldn't buy a beta key for that much but if i had a better job or found a key much cheaper from a trustworthy seller i'd buy one too.

Funny thing would be if OP got invited to beta with the next wave ^^

Wold be a waste of money :
1. You could get fastly bored (trust me).
2. The beta key could be fake and you might get scammed.
3. Woldn't be really funny if the beta wold end AFTER you bought a beta key?

And come on....fu** them! they are 300$! you can buy better things with them...I mean...i love videogames but this is idiotic...

My opinion.

really bad time to buy IMO. Basic economics man, supply and demand. when beta first came out, $300+ was the going rate for keys. Some even went as high as $400 or more. Once the second wave hit (blizzcon attendees), the # of auctions on ebay jumped threefold. I remember once seeing 180 results for "starcraft 2 beta". The price was going for barely over 200 and some people were making off with it for under 200. everyone knows another wave of invites will hit in a matter of days, the supply on ebay will be outrageously high again and thus the price will fall again. i was thinking about picking a key up off of ebay as well but it just isn't worth it at the current price. If 10,000 invites go out tomorrow you are going to be hurtin when you see the avg closing price on ebay. Just check the box for completed listings on the ebay search to get an idea of the avg closing price.

they cannot sell anymore keys since they are not giving out any more keys only activating accounts.

It was said they will have an Open Beta. If that means open for people who preorders only... well all the more respect for Blizzard down the pipe for me.
The great company is now on its way to become a cash cow for its owner, and with high profits being the main priority for everything they do. Although it was quite a different attitude that got them where they are today.
The most important reason they are where they are today I have to admit is that they make quality games. At least that certainly have not changed.

They wouldn't sell keys on ebay. The profit margin is neglible, using $10,000 as a generous example, doesn't really make enough of a dent to ruin a companies reputation should it be discovered. And be guaranteed, the rep would be gone. Especially since those eager enough to spend that kind of bill on an unfinished multiplayer-only game will guaranteed buy the actual game when it releases.

I think more power to you if you choose to pay that kind of money for a beta key. God knows spending money on weed has cost more than 300$ just this year never mind my whole life. Whatever makes you happy I suppose, those calling the OP retarded are kind of retarded themselves to be honest

better wear your shades, the spotlights here can burn holes through the stage

Here's the answer I received after contacting support:

"Greetings,

The beta invites, even for the Blizzcon attendees, come in waves. Since you just registered your beta card very recently, you will have a strong chance of getting into one of those subsequent waves. So it is highly probable that you will get in the next wave or a following wave. Be advised, however, that the beta cards only guarantee that you will get into a "future Blizzard beta." My best guess is that you will get into StarCraft II beta, but there is still small chance you will not.

Thanks"

You are crazy. Blizzard them selves should really make cash of this. Release 3/4 of the beta keys they released and sell the rest on ebay. It would make them a fortune (well not quite compared to wow, but still)

I'd personally rather give the money to some lucky SOB than blizzard after hearing what they are doing with the game... 1st they decide to monetize parts of bnet 2.0 (charge money), then they decide to make you pay for sc2 3 times (probably not even going to reduce price on the expansion packs), and then decide that they will cut out lan and make it manditory for you to log on the newly monetized bnet 2.0 just to play single player.

For shame blizzard, If we can get an emu server up in the 1st 2 weeks sc2 is released I'm so not going to buy the game.

Its your fault you paid money for something free and not guaranteed..
Beta will probably last another 2 months so even if you get in you will play for about a month..

Dude, i play like 10 games every day vs the AI, there is no way i'd get bored if i was in the beta. Chances are i'd never get out of my apartment from that point on hehe.

But yea, the key being a scam is a very, very big possibility.
